SERVICE DES INCENDIES
The Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) is the only professional firefighting body in the Montreal area, with 67 stations. It is the second largest fire service in Canada and the seventh in North America. In addition to firefighting, it also provides first responder services and has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when volunteer firefighting groups were formed. The SIM has evolved over the years, integrating suburban fire services and enhancing its capabilities to respond to fires and emergencies in a densely populated urban environment.
