FRASER LAKE SAWMILLS
The closure of the sawmill in Fraser Lake, B.C., operated by West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd., was announced due to challenges in accessing economically viable fibre in the region. Approximately 175 employees will be affected, and efforts will be made to provide work opportunities at other West Fraser operations. The closure will reduce Canadian lumber capacity by around 160 million board feet, impacting the local community significantly.
