BIOSPHERE
UNESCO Biosphere Reserves are internationally recognized institutions that focus on the conservation of natural environments, conducting research on ecological changes and monitoring human impacts. Canada has 18 biosphere reserves covering a total area of 235,000 square kilometres, contributing to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves under the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.
